Every little bit really does make a difference

“I don’t even notice the $5 donation coming out of my pay packet each week and there’s the bonus knowing that the Government tops it up an extra $2.50 with a tax benefit. I like that, it’s like a freebie,” says Catherine.

 The fact that Sunrise supports local organisations is what really appealed to both Catherine and Mary-Jane and that they were able to decide which fund they supported.

 Catherine says, “There are loads of great Special Interest Funds I could have given to, but I decided on the General Fund as I like the idea that Sunrise decides where the money is most needed within the community.”

 Through the Workplace Giving scheme Elaine donates weekly to the Cancer Society and Mary-Jane to the Arts Fund as it’s something she enjoys, having been involved in the Gisborne Choral Society since 1982.

 Mary-Jane says, “I am impressed with the way Sunrise is managed. I like that the capital is retained and that the funds just keep growing because you’re only using interest and have such a small operating cost.”

 Catherine agrees and says, “Knowing you operate on only 1% and the rest of the money is invested is impressive.”
