Liz Crawford and her father Tom set up Oasis Community Shelter to provide shelter for men without homes during Covid

Liz Crawford the manager of Oasis Community Shelter, and her father Tom, set up Oasis out of urgency to provide shelter for men without homes during Covid with the help of a grant from Sunrise.

Oasis is an initiative by Gisborne New Life Fellowship, a not-for-profit that have served our community needs since 1986.

They opened Tairawhiti's first mens' homeless shelter as a Covid-19 response and are hoping to self fund its continuation. They need many items for their whanau, including lockers and items to run the shelter.

They would like to help whanau move from shelter living to having the men build their own housing to live in, while at the same time keeping the shelter open to assist more homeless people.
