Celebrating 10 years of generosity

2 November 2024 marks the beginning of Sunrise Week and our 10th birthday celebrations.

Sunrise Week is an opportunity to highlight milestones we’ve achieved over the years thanks to the ongoing support of funders, sponsors, and our generous donors. Whether it’s $5 or $50,000 it has all helped us on our journey to build a better, brighter future for our region, so thank you. 

It’s amazing to look at how far we have come, and the positive impact Sunrise has had in our region over the past 10 years. At the end of March 2024 Sunrise had $8.2 million funds under management, invested for the good of our community for decades to come. We have been made aware of a further $25 million promised in wills. 

Since 2014, 10 named funds and 51 special interest funds have been established with Sunrise across the arts, education, community, health, environment, sport, and animal welfare sectors, plus our General fund.

It is from our General fund in our annual funding round that we grant, and we have now distributed over $1.8M to deserving local groups or organisations, with 70 grants worth over $525,000 distributed in 2024. 

Sunrise’s team of 3 part time staff and 12 volunteer trustee and committee members remain as committed as ever to this region. Excluding Sunrise Week, gifts to Sunrise over the years from past and present trustees and staff members total more than $390,000. Isn’t that phenomenal? Combined with voluntarily giving their time, this significant financial support is a clear reflection of everyone’s unwavering commitment to Sunrise. 

We would like to acknowledge everyone who advocates for Sunrise. Some of you have been with us from the beginning and others have joined us along the way. It’s an important job to raise awareness and understanding throughout the region– thank you.  

The past 10 years have been a wonderful journey, and our community is in safe hands for the future.
