Sunrise supports charities and community organisations that have a charitable purpose in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne (the area covered by the Gisborne District Council).

Since we launched in 2014 we have awarded grants with a total value of $925,000 to worthy causes across the arts, education, environment, health, social services and sports communities in Tairāwhiti-Gisborne.

When you can apply 

We do one funding round per annum, applications for 2023 will open on 1 June and close on 18th July 2023. Applications will be notified by 28th September and Grants paid by 26th October 2023.

Eligibility and funding priorities are decided each year by the Sunrise Grants Committee and set out in our funding policy.
