Giving That Lasts a Lifetime

Rob Dymock likes knowing that her giving through Sunrise creates a legacy of support for generations to come.
Rob Dymock, Chair of Sunrise, has been a regular donor to the General Fund for nearly a decade.

For nearly a decade, Rob Dymock has been a regular donor to Sunrise Foundation’s General Fund. While she now serves as Chair of the Board, her journey with Sunrise began when she was invited to join the Grants Committee.

“I was privileged to serve on the Grants Committee for about five years. It opened my eyes to the incredible need in our community, and how hard so many charities work on limited resources,” says Rob.

That experience sparked a strong desire to make her own giving local and lasting. “I’d given to charities with national bodies in the past, but I was struck by how much was absorbed in operating costs.

"With Sunrise, I knew 99% of my donation would directly support causes in Tairāwhiti. That was a real lightbulb moment for me.”

Rob’s professional background has shaped her giving too. Having worked as a Registered Nurse for many years, she has always been drawn to supporting causes in the health sector. Yet she believes strongly that giving through Sunrise should reflect each donor’s own passions.

Rob chose to support the General Fund because it directs funding to the areas of greatest need. But she’s quick to point out that Sunrise offers options for everyone. “Some people might prefer instead to support things like the arts, education, or the environment. The beauty of Sunrise is that you choose what matters most to you, and you decide how much to give.”

Giving through Sunrise is an available option for everyone. “Whether it’s $5 a week or a larger gift, it all goes into the collective pot and grows, creating a legacy of support for generations to come – Local giving for local needs.”
