In need of a funding boost?

Apply for a grant in our annual funding round, opening 3 June.

The Sunrise Foundation’s annual funding round opens soon, offering local groups and organisations with a charitable purpose in Gisborne-Tairāwhiti the chance to apply for a grant from our General Fund.

Applications for a grant open on 3 June and close at noon, 15 July.

Whether you're seeking help to purchase new equipment, train staff, operational costs, or advance a special project, Sunrise may be able to help. Our experienced grants committee carefully reviews each application to ensure a diverse range of charitable groups in our community benefit and that greatest need is met.

Leslynne Jackson, Chairperson of Sunrise’s grants committee, says, “Strong communities rely on the strength of their local groups and organisations. The work they do fosters meaningful connections between people and celebrates everything that makes Tairāwhiti so special – from our stunning natural landscapes to our vibrant sports, arts, and culture.”

Due to the untagged funds and flexibility of the General fund, our grants committee responds to the evolving needs of the community as they change from year to year. Since its inception, Sunrise has awarded over $2 million in grants. This includes grants from named funds as well as support from the Tindall Foundation and pass through donations.

This year all applications are to be submitted through our online application form on our website. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by 30 September with grants paid out on 17 October.
