Sunrise's Tech Superheroes

Tier1 have generously taken Sunrise on as a pro-bono client.

Keeping Sunrise’s systems secure, reliable, and up to date is vital to the work we do every day, from managing donations to delivering grants across Tairāwhiti.

Behind the scenes, this important backbone is supported by Tier1 Technical, who have generously taken Sunrise on as a pro-bono client.

The value of this contribution is substantial, saving Sunrise many thousands of dollars each year. Those savings mean more of our operating budget can stay focused on what matters most: supporting local groups and strengthening the region we call home.

Tier1’s Matt Walkinshaw says their decision to support Sunrise was an easy one. “We’ve always admired the ‘smarter giving’ funding model that Sunrise Foundation uses, and we’ve seen and been part of the results that the funding has provided for.”

In addition to providing ongoing I.T. support, Tier1 also oversee Sunrise’s cybersecurity protections, an increasingly critical area for any organisation. “We’ve chosen to onboard the Sunrise Foundation with our complete I.T. and cybersecurity services, because by backing their purpose with our capability, we feel we’re allowing more value to be directed to volunteer groups and community outcomes through the grants they provide.”

Tier1 Technical specialise in professionally managed I.T. services for mid-sized businesses throughout Gisborne and the East Coast, offering everything from helpdesk support to security, networking, and systems management.

Glenda Stokes, Sunrise CEO, says Tier1’s support brings both practical and personal reassurance. “We’re so grateful for their generosity. Knowing our systems and our donors’ information are secure gives us real peace of mind. Having Tier1’s expertise behind us means we can focus on serving our community with confidence.”
