Supporting the Future of Medical Innovation

MātaiMedical Research Institute (Mātai) is leading the way in medical imaging, advancing healthcare, education, and economic outcomes - both locally and globally.

Last year, a group of anonymous donors joined forces to establish an endowment fund aimed at supporting Mātai’s future growth, sustainability, and innovation. Recognising the institute's exceptional medical research and wanting to ensure guaranteed funding every year to support them, the donors pooled funds to meet Sunrise’s $50,000 minimum needed to seed a fund.

Our region is privileged to host a cutting-edge facility that is a global leader in medical research, with world-renowned researchers driving progress. Dr Samantha Holdsworth, the co-founder and CEO/Research Director of Mātai, is widely regarded as a global authority in her field. She is credited with pioneering new MRI techniques to detect diseases earlier. Her and her team’s remarkable achievement in 2009—the creation capture of the highest resolution diffusion image of a living brain at the time—cements her as a trailblazer in medical research. Under her leadership, Mātai has set the bar for advancing our understanding of health using MRI technology.

Mātai is also dedicated to nurturing local talent, offering scholarships and internships to support emerging medical researchers, as they embark on their academic and professional journeys,” says Dr Holdsworth.

Contributions to the Mātai Research Institute Endowment Fund are encouraged, to grow the fund and secure its long-term sustainability and impact. Every donation, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in supporting Mātaiboth now and for future years.
